HEROES
Below is everything needed to know about each of Overwatch 2's tank heroes!
WRECKING BALL
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Quad Cannons; Automatic assault cannons
Ability 1: Grappling Claw; A grappling claw that launches to swing yourself around - can damage and knockback enemies through high speed collisions
Ability 2: Roll; Transform into a ball - max out movement speed
Ability 3: Piledriver; Whilst in roll slam into the ground to launch enemies up and deal damage
Ability 4: Adpative Shield; Temporary personal extra health - increases with more enemies nearby
Ultimate: Minefield; A field of proximity mines
Strengths: Fastest character in the game, Initiating team fights, Forcing enemy out of position, Skilled ball players singlehandedly carry games
Weaknesses: Heavily affected by crowd-control abilites (such as sleep or hack), High skill, Very reliant on his abilities and mobility
DOOMFIST
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Hand Cannon; Short-range spread weapon - automatic reload
Ability 1: Rocket Punch; Hold to charge then release to launch forward and knock an enemy back - increased damage if enemy hits a wall
Ability 2: Seismic Slam; Leap and smash the ground
Ability 3: Power Block; Protection from frontal attacks - blocking heavy damage empowers Rocket Punch
Passive ability: The Best Defense; Generate temporary overhealth when dealing ability damage
Ultimate: Meteor Strike; Leap up into the air to become invincible - shows visible aoe once the strike is released
Strengths: High mobility, Powerful combos, High damage, Strong ultimate - for survivability and damage
Weaknesses: Easy to counter by crowd control abilities, Close combat, Big damage fall off mid to long range
D.VA
Hero Type: Hitscan and Projectile
Weapon type: Fusion Cannons; Automatic short-range spread weapon, Light Gun; Automatic weapon
Ability 1: Boosters; Fly in the direction facing
Ability 2:Defense Matrix; Blocks projectiles for a certain area in front of you
Ability 3: Micro Missiles; Launch a volley of explosive rockets
Passive ability: Eject!; Eject out of mech when it's destroyed
Ultimate: Self-Destruct; Eject and 'overload' your mech, causing it to explode a large area after a short time dealing 100 - 1000 damage, Call Mech; Call down a new mech that deals 250 damage
Strengths: High health, High close range damage output, Strong 1-on-1 fighter, Consistent damage, Strong aoe ultimates, Good flanker
Weaknesses: Can't protect her team as well as other tanks like Reinhardt, Slow whilst firing, Can be easily outranged
ORISA
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Augmented Fusion Driver; Automatic heat based weapon - The more a player fires the weapon the more it will heat up and will need to cooldown after reaching its max, although is technically unlimited in ammo
Ability 1: Energy Javelin; Launch at an enemy to stun and knockback - more effective if they hit a wall
Ability 2: Fortify; Gain temporary health, Reduce damage taken, Cannot be stunned, heat generated by weapon reduced
Ability 3: Javelin Spin; Spin your javelin to destory projectiles, Block melee attacks, Pushes enemies, Increases forward speed
Ultimate: Terra Surge; Pull in enemies and anchor down, Automatically gain fortify, Charge a surge of damage, Released whenever
Strengths: Very durable, High damage at close range, Knockback abilities can control enemies getting too close, Weapon can be almost constantly used
Weaknesses: Vulnerable when surrounded, Large target, Below average health for a tank, Reliant on abilities
JUNKERQUEEN
Hero Type: Hitscans
Weapon Type: Scatter Gun; Pump action shotgun
Ability 1: Jagged Blade; Throw a blade which can be recalled, If stuck to an enemy they will be pulled back when it returns, Wounds enemies hit by melee or throw - deals damage overtime
Ability 2: Commanding Shout; Grants temporarty health and movement speed to self and allies
Ability 3: Carnage; Wound all enemies in front of you, deals damage over time, cooldown reduced for each enemy hit
Passive Ability: Adrenaline Rush; Heal from all damage over time dealt by wounds
Ultimate: Rampage; Charge forward, Wound enemies, Deals damage oer time, Prevents heal
Strengths: Very oppressive brawler, Difficult to kill, Very high self sustain, Can close distances quickly, High damage
Weaknesses: Low health pool for a tank, vulnerable to anti-nade, Long range makes her less consistent, Very reliant on her abilities
REINHARDT
Hero Type: Melee
Weapon type: Rocket Hammer; High damage melee weapon
Ability 1: Charge; Charge forward and smash an enemy against a wall - can be cancelled
Ability 2: Fire Strike; Launch a fiery projectile
Ability 3: Barrier Field; Hold right-click to deploy a held frontal barrier
Ultimate: Earthshatter; Knock all enemies in front of you - within a certain range
Strengths: Sturdiest tank, High base Health, Massive barrier, High raw damage and abilities, Makes space easily
Weaknesses: Restricted to short range fighting, Vulnerable to crowd control abilities, Shield can be easily melted down
ROADHOG
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon Type: Scrap Gun; Short-range blasts of shrapnel with a wide spread, Alt-Fire; A shrapnel ball that detonates further and scatters metal fragments
Ability 1: Chain Hook; Drag an enemy towards you if hit with the hook
Ability 2: Take A Breather; Heal yourself and reduce damage taken over a short time
Ultimate: Whole Hog; Damage and knockback enemies - can be interrupted by self heal and hook
Strengths: Singling out vulnerable enemies, Powerful short - medium range, Can be a solid flanker, Can operate without team
Weaknesses: Can't really protect teammates like other tanks, Easily countered by crowd control abilites and anti-nade
SIGMA
Hero Type: Projectile and AOE
Weapon type: Hyperspheres; Launch two charges that implode after a short while, Deal damage in an area
Ability 1: Kinetic Grasp; Absorb projectiles in front of you and convert it into extra health
Ability 2: Accretion; Gather a mass of debris and throw it to stun an enemy by knocking them down
Ability 3: Experimental Barrier; Hold to propel a floating barrier; release to stop, Press again to recall it back to you
Ultimate: Gravitic Flux; Manipuate gravity to lift enemies into the air and slam them back down
Strengths: Consistent offensive and defensive abilites, High damage, Useful fighting at a distance, Good in 1-on-1's
Weaknesses: Lengthy cooldowns, Lack of mobility, Requires constant awareness to surroundings, Heavily reliant on quick decision making as well as pre-planned thinking
WINSTON
Hero Type: Beam
Weapon type: Tesla Cannon; A short range electric barrage, Alt-Fire; A meidum range electric beam after being held
Ability 1: Jump Pack; Leap forward into the air - landing on enemies damages them
Ability 2: Barrier Projector; Deploy a protective energy dome
Ultimate: Primal Rage; Gain immense health, but can only leap at and punch enemies
Strengths: Very mobile, Dangerous to low health heroes, Easily disrupts the enemy team through constant harrassment, Strong ultimate
Weaknesses: Only capable of short range fighting, Not as consistent and durable as other tanks, Low damage, Overall quite weak
ZARYA
Hero Type: Beam
Weapon type:Particle Cannon;Short-range beam of energy, Alt-Fire; An explosive AOE charge of energy that arches on release
Ability 1: Particle Barrier; A personal barrier around you that abosrbs damage
Ability 2: Projected Barrier A barrier for a chosen enemy that absorbs damage
Passive Ability:Energy;Damage blocked by barriers increases Particle Cannon damage
Ultimate: Graviton Surge; Launch a gravity well that pulls enemies into it
Strengths: Very strong at maximum energy, Ultimate has some of the highest play-making potential in the game
Weaknesses: Challenging to play, Softest of all tanks - Lowest base health out of them, Heavily reliant on her teammates to - Charge her energy, Provide cover and coordinate with her ultimate
