HEROES
Below is everything needed to know about each of Overwatch 2's damage heroes!
ASHE
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Semi-automatic; reloaded one bullet at a time in rapid succession
Ability 1: Dynamite; A throwable explosive that detonates after a short while or immediately when shot
Ability 2: Coach Gun; Blasts enemies in front of you and knock yourself backwards
Ultimate: Duplicate; Become a copy of a targeted enemy hero
Strengths: Mid range, High damage, One shot if boosted and scoped in, Abilities offer mobility and high damage opportunities
Weaknesses: Close range, abilities require good follow-up, best played close to team
BASTION
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Configuration assault; Slow moving tank, powerful rotary cannon, Configuration recon; Highly accurate weapon
Ability 1: A-36 Tactical Grenade; A bomb that bounces off walls, explodes when hits enemies or the ground
Ability 2: Reconfigure; Switch between weapon configurations
Passive ability: Ironclad; Reduces damage taken while transformed
Ultimate: Configuration Artillery; Fire up to 3 strong artillery shells but are immobile
Strengths: Extremely high damage, Accurate gun, Doesn't require much skill
Weaknesses: Weak to mobile heroes that can reach the weak point whilst in turret form, Relies heavily on team
CASSIDY
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon Type: Revolver
Ability 1: Combat Roll; Roll in the direction you're moving
Ability 2:Magentic Grenade; A short range grenade that deals extra damage if stuck to an enemy
Ultimate: Deadeye; Locks onto multiple enemies heads after a few moments which can instantly kill
Strengths: One of the best dueslists in the game, accurate hitscan weapon, mobile ability, strong ultimate
Weaknesses: Close range, low mobility, easy to outflank and kill - has to get close to deal significant damage, low ammo, ultimate easily countered
ECHO
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Semi-automatic; reloaded one bullet at a time in rapid succession
Ability 1: Sticky Bombs; A volley of sticky bombs that detonate after a little while
Ability 2: Flight; A quick burst of flight and then a brief free-fly
Ability 3: Focusing Beam; Chanelled beam for a few seconds, can burst down targets under half health
Passive ability: Glide; Echo can glide whilst falling until she reaches the ground
Ultimate: Duplicate; Become a copy of a targeted enemy hero
Strengths: Adaptive to many team compositions, Very mobile, High damage, Extremely valuable ultimate
Weaknesses: Easily countered by hitscans such as Cassidy etc, Can be put in poor positions by her flight ability, High skill
GENJI
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon Type: Shurikens; Three throwing stars in quick succession + Shuriken Alt Fire; throw three shurikens in a wider spread
Ability 1: Swift Strike; Fast forward dash, inflicts damage on enemies, kills reset cooldown
Ability 2: Deflect; Deflect projectiles toward facing direction and block melee attacks
Passive Ability: Cyber-Agility; Climb on Walls and double jump
Ultimate: Dragonblade; High damage melee weapon that resets swift strike when activated and resets with a kill
Strengths: High damage, Very high mobility, Excels in one-on-one combat
Weaknesses: Easily countered ultimate, Lacks defense and health - weak if caught out of position, Relies on quick-thinking
HANZO
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Bow
Ability 1: Storm Arrows; 5 arrows that ricochet and fire instantly - reduced damage
Ability 2: Sonic Arrow; reveals enemies close to the arrow for a short time
Ability 3: Lunge; Double jump
Passive ability: Wall climb; Jump at walls to climb them
Ultimate: Dragonstrike; A dragon spirit - deals a lot of damage
Strengths: High damage, Good in long range combat, Ultimate can be used for multiple purpoes; zoning or high damage
Weaknesses: Close-range combat, has to charge shots, slow firerate
JUNKRAT
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon Type: Frag Launcher; Bouncing explosive projectile weapon
Ability 1: Concussion Mine; A knockback mine that can be detonated by pressing the same button to launch
Ability 2: Steel Trap; Traps enemies
Ultimate: Rip-tire; Drive and detonate a tire that can explode on command
Passive Ability:Total Mayhem; Drop bombs on death that can kill enemies
Strengths: Deadly ultimate, High damage, Good close range, Good at zoning areas
Weaknesses: Long range, Air-borne heroes, Usually a 'Spray-n-pray' hero, Takes a lot of experience to accurately land shots
MEI
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Endothermic Blaster; Short range spray that slows enemies Alt-Fire; Long Range icicle launcher
Ability 1: Cryo-Freeze; You become an invulnerable block of ice and heal whilst in this form
Ability 2: Ice Wall; Create an ice wall that you can rotate and place
Ultimate: Blizzard; A weather control drone that freezes enemies within a certain zone
Strengths: One-on-One fights, Short and long range, Like a semi-tank, Very strong ultimate
Weaknesses: Can be outdamaged and killed easily, Lacks raw killing power and mobility tools, Playing Mei well is challenging
PHARAH
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Rocket Launcher; Long Range explosive projectile weapon
Ability 1: Jump Jet; Fly rapidly upward
Ability 2: Concussive Blast; An explosive blast that knocks enemies back
Passive Ability: Hover Jets; Hold to hover
Ultimate: Barrage; A continuous volley of mini-rockets
Strengths: High damage, Mid to long range, Airborne, Can single-handedly carry if played right
Weaknesses: Bad pharahs can single-handedly lose games, Slow movement in air, Jump jet can leave her exposed to enemies
REAPER
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Shotguns
Ability 1: Shadow Step; Teleport to targeted location
Ability 2: Wraith Form Become invulnerable and move faster - cannot shoot in this form
Passive Ability:The Reaping;Dealing damage heals you
Ultimate: Death Blossom; Spray damage to all nearby enemies
Strengths: Very strong close range, High Mobility, High Damage
Weaknesses: Has to play close up, Ultimate easily countered, Terrible longe range especially against snipers and airborne heroes
SOLDIER76
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Automatic assault weapon
Ability 1: Sprint; Run faster while moving forward
Ability 2: Biotic Field; Deploy a field that can heal you and your team
Ability 3: Helix Rockets; Launch a volley of explosive rockets
Ultimate: Tactical Visor; Aimbot that targets any enemies in view
Strengths: A reliable source of damage, strong AoE heal, good mobility and high damage abilities, Diverse + useful kit
Weaknesses: Any heroes that take away or nullify his abilites e.g. D.Va, Orisa, Ana
SOJOURN
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Railgun; Rapid firing projectiles that generate energy on hit, right click is a high impact shot that uses up the energy
Ability 1: Power Slide; Ground slide that can cancel into high jump
Ability 2: Disruptor Shot; Launch an energy burst that deals damage within it
Ultimate: Overclock; Railgun energy auto-charges for short duration, can collateral
Strengths: If skilled on her can carry team fights, Easily counters airborne heroes, High damage
Weaknesses: Relies on hitting shots, Close range combat, She can be easily outrun and outdamaged by heroes like Genji or Tracer
SOMBRA
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon Type: Machine Pistol; Short range automatic weapon
Ability 1:Hack; Hold to hack, Hacked enemies cannot not use abilites and can be seen briefly through walls, Taken damage interrupts hack attempts, Hacked health packs can't be used by enemies and spawn faster
Ability 2:Stealth; Invisibility and speed, can't shoot, can reload
Ultimate: EMP; Deals damage equal to 40% of all nearbly enemies' health, hacking them
Passive Ability:Opportunist; You detect critically injured enemies through walls and deal more damage to hacked enemies
Strengths: Powerful infiltrator, EMP provides upper hand against multiple enemies at once, Highly mobile and hard to track
Weaknesses: Low damage, lacks alternatives to deal damage
SYMMETRA
Hero Type: Beam
Weapon type: Photon Projector; Short range beam with increasing damage
Ability 1: Sentry Turret; Deploy 3 small turrets that damage and slow enemies
Ability 2: Teleporter; Create two temporary teleporters used to travel between them
Ultimate: Photon Barrier; A massive energy barrier
Strengths: Abilities provide both defensive and positional advantages for her team, Can be incredibly high damage if played right, Weapon can go through abilities like deflect and defense matrix
Weaknesses: Low health and mobility, Relies on her team for survivability, Beam takes awhile to charge up
TORBJORN
Hero Type: Projectile
Weapon type: Rivet Gun; Slow firing, long range weapon Alt Fire; Short range weapon
Ability 1: Forge Hammer; Swing to repair turret or damage an enemy
Ability 2: Turret; Deploy a self-building turret
Ability 3: Overload; Gain extra health, improved attack, movement and reload speed
Ultimate: Molten Core; Create pools of molten slag that damage enemies, extra damage to armour
Strengths: Zoning an area, Very high damage, Strong kit, Easily counters squishy targets that have lower health and chews through tank health
Weaknesses: Primary fire arcs mid to long range, Lack of mobility, Flanking, Fighting aggressively, Large hitbox
TRACER
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type: Pulse pistols; Short range rapid fire pistols
Ability 1: Blink; Teleport in the direction you're moving
Ability 2: Recall; Travel back in time to your previous location and health
Ultimate: Pulse Bomb; Throw a powerful sticky explosive
Strengths: Close range, High single target damage, High mobility, Outflanks most other damage heroes
Weaknesses: Low base health, Requires the highest skill in the game, Ultimate can kill you, Relies on thinking ahead and quickly
WIDOWMAKER
Hero Type: Hitscan
Weapon type:Widow's Kiss; Automatic assault weaponAlt-Fire; Long range sniper rifle
Ability 1: Grappling Hook; A hook that launches you towards a ledge
Ability 2: Venom Mine; Launch a poison trap that can reveal singular enemies for a short duration
Ultimate: Infra-Sight; Provides your team with a view of enemy locations and health bars
Strengths: Powerful Weapon, Deals a lot of damage, Abilites aid team on enemy movements
Weaknesses: Requires a lot of skill to hit shos consistently, Has to charge up to one shot, Weak if alone and tends to rely on team
